Indigenous Games @ SPS Gandhi Nagar under Shiksha Saptah

July 24, 2024

"Games can be a powerful tool for learning, as they provide a safe space for experimentation, failure, and growth." Under the Shiksha Saptah initiative by CBSE, our school, celebrated Sports Day, showcasing the vital role of games in the educational development of young children. The event emphasized the significance of indigenous games, which are deeply rooted in Indian culture. These traditional games, such as Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Marbles, Hide and Seek, and Pitthu (Seven Stones), not only promote physical activity but also foster social interaction and cognitive development, reflecting the country’s rich diversity. Sagarites eagerly participated in these games, enjoying the benefits of improved motor skills, coordination, and overall fitness. The activities also encouraged teamwork, communication, and mutual respect among peers. The celebration highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting these traditional games, ensuring their legacy for future generations. This engaging event underscored how indigenous games are essential for holistic child development, blending physical growth with cultural enrichment.
